Recommended storage for reference material is a freezer at approximately -20 degrees Celsius, protected from light and moisture. Commercial injectable presentations are stored refrigerated between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius and must not be frozen. Product labelling generally permits a limited period at controlled room temperature once dispensed, with the exact window depending on the presentation. Repeated temperature cycling is avoided because it can promote aggregation or deamidation of the peptide chain.
Identity and purity are assessed by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography, with mass confirmation by electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry. Peptide mapping after enzymatic digestion verifies the primary sequence. Size-exclusion chromatography quantifies aggregates, while circular dichroism provides a secondary-structure fingerprint. Bioanalytical quantification in plasma uses immunoassay or LC-MS/MS. Reported purity for research-grade lots is commonly 95 percent or higher, and residual water content is checked by Karl Fischer titration.
As a peptide, tirzepatide is handled as a lyophilised solid in research settings and as a preserved solution in finished products. Aqueous solubility is pH dependent and reaches a minimum near the isoelectric point, which lies close to pH 5.4. Stock solutions are typically prepared in neutral or slightly basic buffer to limit precipitation. The solid is hygroscopic and should be equilibrated to room temperature before opening so that condensation does not form on the powder surface.
Research-grade material circulates through suppliers that differ widely in documentation and testing practice, so a certificate of analysis is a starting point rather than proof of quality. Independent verification typically repeats chromatographic purity and mass confirmation on the received lot, and compares results against a retained reference standard. Regulatory status varies by jurisdiction, and a substance cleared as a medicine is not interchangeable with a research chemical of the same name. Open questions include how closely non-pharmaceutical lots match approved material in impurity profile and in aggregate content.
Solid tirzepatide is handled as a lyophilised, hygroscopic peptide powder that should be kept desiccated, protected from light, and stored frozen, typically at or below minus twenty degrees Celsius for long-term retention. Material left at ambient temperature for extended periods can take up moisture, which promotes aggregation and deamidation. Commercial liquid presentations are kept refrigerated between two and eight degrees Celsius and are not frozen. Reconstituted laboratory solutions are generally held cold and used within a short window because hydrolysis and oxidation continue slowly in solution.

The peptide backbone contains 39 amino acids and includes alpha-aminoisobutyric acid residues, which are not among the standard proteinogenic set. A C20 fatty diacid moiety is attached through a linker, allowing the compound to bind serum albumin and extend its circulation time. This albumin binding is the main reason the molecule supports once-weekly administration rather than more frequent dosing. The measured molecular mass is approximately 4,813 daltons, placing it firmly in the peptide rather than small-molecule class.
Tirzepatide is a synthetic peptide that activates both the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptors. This dual agonist profile distinguishes it from earlier incretin-based compounds that act on a single receptor. The molecule was engineered from the native GIP sequence and carries several non-natural residues that slow enzymatic breakdown. Researchers designed it to combine the insulinotropic effects of GIP signaling with the appetite and gastric-emptying effects associated with GLP-1 activation.
An extended fatty diacid moiety promotes binding to serum albumin, which slows renal clearance and extends the circulating half-life to roughly five days. That property supports once-weekly administration and largely explains the dosing interval described in clinical reports. Published data come mainly from large randomised programmes that evaluated glycaemic control and body weight over periods of many months. Long-term outcomes beyond those trial windows, including what happens after treatment stops, remain an active area of investigation.
Tirzepatide is a synthetic peptide built from thirty-nine amino acids. Its sequence is derived from native glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide, or GIP, with several non-natural residues and a fatty diacid side chain attached through a linker. The molecule behaves as a dual agonist at two incretin receptors, GIP and GLP-1, instead of targeting a single receptor. This dual engagement separates it from earlier single-receptor incretin compounds and underpins most of its reported pharmacological activity.
At the receptor level, the compound binds both GIP and GLP-1 receptors and triggers downstream signalling that raises cyclic AMP in target cells. GLP-1 receptor activation is associated with glucose-dependent insulin release, slower gastric emptying, and reduced appetite signalling. GIP receptor activation contributes effects that are less completely characterised, and how much each receptor adds to the overall clinical response is still an open question. The two pathways appear to interact in a complementary rather than a purely additive way.
Reported outcomes in large trials include dose-dependent weight reduction and improvements in glycemic markers over periods ranging from several months to more than a year. Whether the compound alters long-term cardiovascular or renal outcomes is being examined in dedicated outcome studies, so those questions remain open. Labeling describes gastrointestinal effects such as nausea and diarrhea, which tend to appear during dose escalation. Discontinuation rates and the durability of effects after treatment stops vary across study populations and are still debated.
Tirzepatide is a synthetic peptide developed as a dual agonist at the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptors. Its structure is built on a GIP-derived backbone with non-natural amino acid substitutions and a fatty diacid side chain that promotes albumin binding and slows clearance. That modification supports once-weekly subcutaneous dosing. Registrational trial programs reported reductions in body weight and glycated hemoglobin alongside the drug's glycemic effects.
Both receptors are class B G protein-coupled receptors that signal largely through Gs-mediated cyclic AMP production. Activation within pancreatic islets increases glucose-dependent insulin secretion and suppresses glucagon release when glucose is elevated. Outside the pancreas, signaling in the central nervous system and gut appears to influence appetite and gastric emptying. The relative contribution of each receptor to observed clinical effects remains under investigation, and the two pathways are not simply additive in practice.
The Maryland Housing Certainty Act and Maryland Transit and Housing Opportunity Act both passed, but Moore's third bill, the Starter and Silver Homes Act, failed to advance out of committee. Moore signed the two housing bills into law in May 2026.

These facilities are all located on the western side of the University of Pittsburgh's main campus in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh. The hospitals are also physically connected to the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine's Scaife Hall, the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing's Victoria Hall, Falk Clinic, three of the university's biomedical science towers, and the university's Lothrop Hall dormitory, all of which are surrounded by a variety of other academic facilities. UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside also encompasses the UPMC Shadyside hospital campus which includes the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute in the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center which are located near the university's Centre Plaza Apartments student housing. The UPMC Shadyside facilities are located in the adjacent neighborhood of Shadyside approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from the Oakland-based hospitals and are connected by regular shuttle service.
Other analgesics work peripherally (i.e., not on the brain or spinal cord). Research is starting to show that morphine and related drugs may indeed have peripheral effects as well, such as morphine gel working on burns. Recent investigations discovered opioid receptors on peripheral sensory neurons. A significant fraction (up to 60%) of opioid analgesia can be mediated by such peripheral opioid receptors, particularly in inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, traumatic or surgical pain. Inflammatory pain is also blunted by endogenous opioid peptides activating peripheral opioid receptors. It was discovered in 1953, that humans and some animals naturally produce minute amounts of morphine, codeine, and possibly some of their simpler derivatives like heroin and dihydromorphine, in addition to endogenous opioid peptides. Some bacteria are capable of producing some semi-synthetic opioids such as hydromorphone and hydrocodone when living in a solution containing morphine or codeine respectively. Many of the alkaloids and other derivatives of the opium poppy are not opioids or narcotics; the best example is the smooth-muscle relaxant papaverine. Noscapine is a marginal case as it does have CNS effects but not necessarily similar to morphine, and it is probably in a category all its own.
=== Health effects === Research starting in 1975 showed substantially increased risk of endometrial cancer. Since 1976, the drug has carried a label warning about the risk. As part of the Women's Health Initiative sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, a large-scale clinical trial of menopausal HRT showed that long-term use of estrogen and a progestin may increase the risk of strokes, heart attacks, blood clots, and breast cancer. Following these results, Wyeth experienced a significant decline in its sales of Premarin, Prempro (CEEs and medroxyprogesterone acetate), and related products, from over $2 billion in 2002 to just over $1 billion in 2006.
=== Hot air drying in drying chamber === Compact flowers like marigolds, chrysanthemums, cornflowers and zinnias dry well in a fan-assisted, convection chamber. Non-ventilated chambers are not appropriate, because they generate too much moisture. The material must be dried at a low temperature (30-35˚Celsius), over many hours. The flowers are slotted through holes in a wire mesh rack leaving room for the stems to dangle below. The time required depends upon the density of the flowers.

On 6 January 1984, United Nations Security Council Resolution 546 was adopted with thirteen votes in favour and two abstentions, by the US and UK. The resolution condemned Operation Askari and demanded South Africa's immediate and unconditional withdrawal from Angola. An earlier draft of the same text imposing mandatory trade sanctions on South Africa until it ceased cross-border raids was abandoned under American pressure. The Soviet Union announced that it had reached yet another, more comprehensive agreement with Angola to bolster FAPLA's defence capabilities, and delivered the public warning to South Africa that "further aggression cannot be left unpunished".
non-coding DNA (ncDNA) Any segment of DNA that does not encode a sequence that may ultimately be transcribed and translated into a protein. In most organisms, only a small fraction of the genome consists of protein-coding DNA, though the proportion varies greatly between species. Some non-coding DNA may still be transcribed into functional non-coding RNA (as with transfer RNAs) or may serve important developmental or regulatory purposes; other regions (as with so-called "junk DNA") appear to have no known biological function.
=== Art === A form of blotter paper commonly known as watercolor paper is produced for its absorbent qualities, allowing much better absorption of water and pigments than standard art or drawing papers. Although usually categorized as separate from blotting paper, differences in the constituents and thickness of blotting paper and watercolor paper are subtle, and making a distinction between the two is unnecessary as the production process is nearly identical.
A disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs 7 (ADAMTS7) is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the ADAMTS7 gene on chromosome 15. It is ubiquitously expressed in many tissues and cell types. This enzyme was historically reported to catalyze the degradation of cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP), though subsequent studies using purified proteins and unbiased mass spectrometry found that ADAMTS7 does not cleave COMP. ADAMTS7 has been associated with cancer and arthritis in multiple tissue types. The ADAMTS7 gene is a well-established genetic susceptibility locus for coronary artery disease.
=== Maturation of American development-assistance institutions === While U.S. government development assistance was institutionalized on a nearly global scale by TCA, strong currents of change in U.S. foreign economic policy during the 1950s affected how development assistance worked and at times called its continued existence into question. When this process finally resulted in the creation of USAID in 1961, USAID continued to use TCA's core mechanism – providing technical assistance led by in-country resident offices – and supplemented it with substantial amounts of financial assistance.

=== Recreational === Benzydamine has been used recreationally. If taken in excess amounts, it acts as an atypical deliriant and CNS stimulant. Such use, particularly among teenagers, has been reported in Brazil, Poland, Romania, and Turkey.
In the summer of 1943 the newly re-equipped division was subordinated to the XXXXVIII Panzer Corps, part of Fourth Panzer Army, and began preparing to take part in the Battle of Kursk. During the buildup period, a regiment of two battalions was equipped with the new Panther tanks, which were plagued by technical problems, suffering from engine fires and mechanical breakdowns before reaching the battlefield. The division also had 4 Panzer IIs, 23 Panzer IIIs, 68 Panzer IVs, 15 Tiger Is, 8 command tanks, and 14 Flammpanzer IIIs available. The battle began on 5 July; by 7 July, the division had only 80 of its 300 tanks still fit for combat. After the Kursk offensive was canceled, the division was transferred back to Army Group Center and resumed its role as a mobile reserve. The Tiger I tank company was expanded to a battalion, becoming the III. Battalion of the Panzer Regiment. Großdeutschland saw heavy fighting around Karachev before being transferred back to XLVIII Panzer Corps in late August. For the rest of 1943, Großdeutschland retreated across Ukraine, and in 1944 into Romania, where it took part in the First Battle of Târgu Frumos. By 31 May 1944, the division had 14 Panzer IV, 90 Panther and 40 Tiger I tanks.
=== As the OAM (1991–1998) === Joseph J. Jacobs was appointed the first director of the OAM in 1992. Jacobs' support for rigorous scientific methodology caused friction with Democrat U.S. Senator Tom Harkin and other OAM patrons. Harkin believed his allergies had been cured by bee pollen pills and expressed frustration with the "unbendable rules" of randomized clinical trials, saying, "it is not necessary for the scientific community to understand the process before the American public can benefit from these therapies." Harkin's office reportedly pressured the OAM to fund studies of favored theories, including the use of bee pollen and antineoplastons as treatments. OAM board member Barrie Cassileth publicly criticized the office as a purveyor of nonsense and described it as a "place where opinions are counted as equal to data". After Harkin appeared on television in 1994 with cancer patients who blamed Jacobs for blocking their access to antineoplastons, Jacobs resigned from the OAM in frustration. In an interview with Science, Jacobs criticized Harkin and other politicians for pressuring his office, promoting certain therapies, and, he says, attempting an end-run around objective science." Harkin drew support from Iowa Democrat Representative Berkley Bedell, who believed that cow colostrum had cured his Lyme disease. The OAM's budget grew in the 1990s. The office drew increasing criticism for its perceived lack of rigorous scientific study of alternative approaches favoring uncritical boosterism.

234U occurs in natural uranium as an indirect decay product of uranium-238, but makes up only 55 parts per million of the uranium because its half-life of 245,500 years is only about 1/18,000 that of 238U. The path of production of 234U is this: 238U alpha decays to thorium-234. Next, with a short half-life, 234Th beta decays to protactinium-234. Finally, 234Pa beta decays to 234U. 234U alpha decays to thorium-230, except for a small percentage of nuclei that undergo spontaneous fission. Extraction of small amounts of 234U from natural uranium could be done using isotope separation, similar to normal uranium-enrichment. However, there is no real demand in chemistry, physics, or engineering for isolating 234U. Very small pure samples of 234U can be extracted via the chemical ion-exchange process, from samples of plutonium-238 that have aged somewhat to allow some alpha decay to 234U. Enriched uranium contains more 234U than natural uranium as a byproduct of the uranium enrichment process aimed at obtaining uranium-235, which concentrates lighter isotopes even more strongly than it does 235U. The increased percentage of 234U in enriched natural uranium is acceptable in current nuclear reactors, but (re-enriched) reprocessed uranium might contain even higher fractions of 234U, which is undesirable. This is because 234U is not fissile, though it is fertile. It tends to absorb slow neutrons in a nuclear reactor, becoming fissile 235U.

Solid material is normally kept frozen at about -20 degrees Celsius, desiccated and protected from light. Solutions are held cold and used within a defined window because degradation products accumulate over time.
Mass spectrometry, usually electrospray ionisation coupled to liquid chromatography, gives an observed mass for comparison with the theoretical value. Peptide mapping after digestion provides complementary sequence-level confirmation.
Short exposure during weighing and handling is generally tolerated, but prolonged storage above refrigerated conditions raises the risk of deamidation, oxidation, and aggregation. The rate depends on pH, buffer composition, and concentration.
It is normally kept frozen, desiccated, and away from light, with brief warming to room temperature before opening to limit condensation. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles are avoided because they stress the peptide. Once in solution, the material is held cold and used promptly.
